In 2018, the Environmental Protection Board (EPA) issued a report called “The Future of Chemicals in America.”
The report showed that over 80% of chemicals in America are used to produce products, and more than 90% of those chemicals are not recycled.
In a 2017 report, the University to the Future (UTTF) concluded that “the vast majority” of chemicals used as industrial raw materials are not recyclable.
And even though the U.;s EPA has issued new regulations to address the environmental and health impacts of chemical manufacturing, the agency’s guidance does not take into account the impact of recycling and other non-recyclable chemicals.
